Will the real Siracusa please stand up
Earlier today, Siracusa finally got around to throwing up his own blog over at ArsTechnica, dubbed FatBits, which I'll be keeping an eye on. I dig the name, and it's cool to see him jumping in.

The timing is funny. I wonder why he is doing it at Ars instead of on his own? Hopefully it will be good, I hope he goes after Spotlight first and the Finder second.

He's doing it at Ars because they have Staff journals (Hannibal, Ben Rota, Siracusa, Caesar and Bangeman.)

That first entry isn't a good sign. I had to make myself keep reading. That got me 2/3, I couldn't finish the rest. Maybe he should get a ghost writer?

Uh, guys? It's one entry. Be cool.

First posts always sucks, especially since everybody uses it to justify why they're here. However, I like his second post ("I don't have the good sense to use a web browser to browse the web, but neither should you.").
we'll make him a proper blogger, yet. (Then I can blast him as the enemy...)

That's the problem with Siracusa, he always tells you what HE thinks you should do, like he knows better. He has always appeared condescending and arrogant like a religious right wing crazy just UGH I hate him so much. Stick to the OS X reviews.

"That's the problem with Siracusa....."
What a hateful diatribe from someone who isn't even out there blogging themselves.
Your Mom never taught you the, "If you don't have something nice to say....." line, eh?
Sign me,
a religious right wing crazy :)

Siracusa does seem condescending and holier than thou. Never been a fan, not even the Tiger reviews. Like DB, those could have 3/4 chopped and you wouldnt notice. Not a good writer.
But calling anyone a republican is low, though. :) Agree with Sandy 100% on that one, why make it personal.

That's part of his appeal. no? You love to hate him.

Why so much hate?
I mean, I am reading criticisms of Siracusa like, "he tells you what he thinks you should do" or "he isn't a good writer"... eh?
He tells you what HE thinks. I fail to see how that is a problem. Would it be better if he were a mindless parrot just spewing what other people think? I say not.
I think he does a great job of identifiying problems, then describing them in a way that makes me say, "Oh, yes, that's right, *that's* why OS X annoyed me so much the first few years!"
He has a lot to say, and says it in a very detailed way. I'm sorry if you don't like the details. If you want "executive summaries", maybe you should just read something else. ;)

How much you want to bet your posts put him over the top? :) I give him a month, then he'll peter out. Looking forward to AFB's now though.
