Some notes about the live roundtable
You may remember that the talk at the Apple Store was canceled, and I mentioned an alternate venue...
I'd like to invite you to pick a date next week (Tues-Fri if possible, or the following weekend I could come in and meet you) to come see the place, the auditorium I'm thinking of (Universe Theater, seats something like 265+ people, has the 'magic escalator' up to the Sky theater, maybe we could hook that up too, I don't know.) And I can give you a quick behind the scenes tour and set you up with some free tickets to one of our 3D or sky shows, yadda.....has a big screen for projecting, we've got a decent projector and sound system we can set up in there, and I'm only half kidding about flying you in for a ridiculous entrance. ;) Oh and it has some funky fiberoptics in the ceiling that can be turned on to look like constellations. Pretty trippy.
We also have a pretty cool video studio in our CyberSpace gallery, I've been overhauling it for the last few months and it will be fully operational (IT'S A TRAP) well before October, so, woot. Maybe it could tie in somehow too. Not sure if our bandwidth could handle a live stream of your talk, but I'd love to try...
Basically, a few things are going on:
- Some very cool people here in Chicago -- one in particular named Thom -- stepped in and offered about the coolest place you can imagine having a bunch of geeks flocking together.
- If you'll recall, I mentioned it grew bigger than being just me, and will be a bunch of big heads sitting down discussing some of the topics of the day in a casual environment.
I jokingly mentioned to a few people I admire across the country, "Hey, how'd you feel about dropping your own cash to buy a ticket to Chicago to sit in on a several hour talk about tech?", more so they'd know they were the type of people I'd have in mind than anything.
And then they started saying they were down with it... These are some crazy cool names -- you know some of them from the interviews here -- and if it comes together it'll be nothing short of absurdly cool. I wouldn't want to miss it.
I don't want to give more details until it's all sorted out, but at the moment it's basically all coming down to schedules, and should be towards the third weekend in October. Should know more over the next few days.

Man, think about doing one of these in The SF Bay Area - how cool would it be to do this right in Apple's backyard?

You couldn't like put this off til late November could you? I'm flying in to Ohio on the 23rd and staying 2 weeks :-/
For reference, I'm from the land down under, so this is not a matter of just being in the wrong state, I'm going to be thousands of kilometers closer then I otherwise would be.
Someone help me win the lotto so I can fly around the world and get to these events dammit :-p
