Here comes the sun
Sometime between getting my stuff done, a lovely wheat beer and banging out the last post, it got to be 4am while I wasn't paying attention. This means I'm faced with the same choice many have been in whether via geeking or studying: push through till the morning and make it through the next day, or try to get a few hours on the pillow.
If I eschew the pillow, I have at my disposal...
- My TiVo has an episode of Rescue Me waiting, which is quite possibly the best show on TV right now. With the additions of Weeds, my TiVo is very seductive lately.
- Early this morning, IBM released a bunch of documentation on the CELL processor architecture, which looks very tasty and I'm going to need to chew through eventually. As a side note, whoever is responsible for their POWER list deserves some mad props -- I swear they work in some weird taglines into what goes out in the emails. 80's pop references and everything. We're talking Journey.
- I have a bunch of juicy "rumor" stuff regarding some IM networks which is topical, and I should turn into a post before its out and no longer a rumor, as piece by piece it all seems to be true.
- I'm so far behind on some of the stuff for the site -- some of which is just a few solid hours from completion. Luckily most of the people I'm interviewing are in the middle of a major software releases, so they aren't getting on me about being a total flake.
- I have a bunch more research to do on the differences between IP laws between states and the world, because at some point someone has to figure out how to deal with corporations turning on individuals that may be across the country -- or the world -- from them. You can't just walk down to the local bar association asking for someone interested in offering pro bono help when you're in Atlanta and being sued in California, yet there is little way for a lawyer in California to be aware you need their help.
It sure as hell won't be me doing it, but when someone does, I want to be able to help.
- About a thousand different things I need to do for the site eventually, like swag and real archives. Until I have real archives, anyone is entitled to make fun of me, even tools.
- The folder in an app which holds electronic correspondence for the site has become unspeakable. I dare not speak its name.
- I have a hamper full of laundry which -- if left unchecked -- in a few days will be a pile of laundry with a hamper inside of it. A few days after that, I'll just be buying new stuff rather than deal with the horror the closet has become.
Sleep seems wise and novel, and I feel like being both tonight, so sleep for me it is. If you're reading this -- which depending on the time may or may not mean you're eschewing your pillow -- do check out the CELL docs if you're a geek, and no matter what you are do find a way to watch Rescue Me on FX and Weeds on Showtime.

MMMMMmmmmmm... Wheat Beer. Went to Nurnburg a few years ago. The cradle of wheat beers. I was in heaven sampling all the different varieties! Here in the states, I love (in no particular order):
- Poulaner
- Hacker Pschorr
- Blue Moon
- Hoegaarden
Hmmm... might have to go have a beer at lunch. Yes, I think that's appropriate. Will toast to you, DB

Hoegaarden is awesome, as is one called Erdinger that I've not seen outside of Germany. I have such a weakness for weissbier.

Being the uncultured schlub that I am, New Belgium's Sunshine Wheat is fab. Oh, and holy crap I'd buy some DB swag in a second.

Blue Moon is definitely very tasty. Also, a good Lager in the States(but hard to find) is the German export DAB

Another possible item for your already out-of-control to-do-list is upgrade to MovableType 3.2. Personally I have never been big on keeping stuff like that up-to-date but the new version has gotten "Teh Shiney™" in a big way. Might be worth waiting for a few point releases especially since you use PostgreSQL but I would suggest testing it out at least.

I don't do the the "pushing through to the next morning" thing anymore. Perhaps I'm getting old, but 2+ hours of sleep is better than nothing.
BTW: I just watched Rescue Me 209 this evening. ROFL
So, Rescue Me is great - besides BSG of course.. ;)

FYI, you can buy Erdinger at North Bar in Leeds in the UK and, I daresay, at other We Stock Every Trendy Beer Known To Man bars around the country.

Honoring weißbier, I can think of another couple of names that might endulge your palatar to very high brewed levels: kaputziner weiss and Franziskaner. Both from trappist monks brewing tradition.
But my all-time favourite is still Hoegaarden, for its freshness.
And I'm an Architect. The caffeine-bloated pushing-through is my way of life.

Bad News, Drunkenbatman. Google Talk was released yesterday, so you've already missed the "no longer a rumour" stage. :P
I wish you much luck with the tough decision you're facing. I'm choosing sleep, and crashing at 7:30 AM.
