Buy Mac OS 10.4 while helping DrunkenBlog
Since a bunch of us are going to be picking Mac OS 10.4 anyways, if you purchase by clicking to the right you can get a good deal on Tiger ($99, normally $130) and help support the site.
Amazon is generally good to buy from, it qualifies for free shipping, it's probably the best deal you'll find for a long while, and they seem to get a good amount of product from Apple... Or at least it seems like they're always one of the first to ship. The one sour note is that the $99 price comes about via a downloadable $35 rebate, but its through Amazon and they're much better at those things than most.
I would ask one caveat -- if you do buy Mac OS 10.4 through the link to the right, that you let me know via email so I can touch base with you and at least pass the full feed your way.
I'll also add an iTunes link deal to the sidebar of the site soon, I know some of you have pestered me about it for ages (I'm looking at you, Matthew Kreger). I've tried to avoid having the blog be peppered with that sort of thing, but if it's low-key and it helps someone contribute to the site while doing what they'd normally do, that's cool.

Daring Fireball wants me to support them when I buy Tiger, too. Who do I support? Oh wait, I get staff pricing when I buy directly from Apple...
*grin* Then you should buy directly from Apple, and let me know if you can get two copies. :) I don't hound people to support the site, it's just not my thing, but if it works out in this case that's cool.
As for the Daring Fireball thing, I'm not going there and will choose to take it as a pointed barb rather than a serious question. :)

hey you pour out your time and your energy (and sometimes a helping of heart) on the chats, no need to pour out the contents of your wallet everytime /. picks it up. just my two cents, or whatever cash you get out of amazon for tiger clicks.
the full feed in netnewswire 2.0 with widescreen view is cool beans.
only my mom calls me matthew, and its usually when i do something bad; selling my little sister, flooding the basement, inciting a bomb threat at school, all charges were dropped on that one.

Damn rebate only for US residents - no amazon.com.au yet either :(

"Daring Fireball wants me to support them when I buy Tiger, too. Who do I support?"
I read both and support both (Reader #16 here), but look at the last six months of content on Drunken Blog and the last six months of Daring Fireball. John Gruber is a great writer and I paid for a subscription, but for real content they are not in the same league. Even when doing similar things it just is not the same, Drunken Blog has been slashdotted more times than I can count for a reason.
Gruber is more idealogically aligned with the "Mac World" and how I think and that is why I suport him, but he seems to try too hard. Drunken Batman seems to be tolerated by the "Mac World" for the awesome things he regularly produces.
Truly they are both separate entities focusing on different areas. There is only a small amount of overlap and the similarities are really superficial and now comparing them at all feels silly. When they overlap (interviews?) if one of them had to go I would stick with Drunken Batman but still miss Gruber. :-(
If you had to choose who to pick Gruber is really part of the true "Mac Web" and is committed to the Mac but tries to hard to "be someone". Drunken Blog is something else entirely and can be more negative about things than I sometimes appreciate and may not be using OS X tomorrow. Lucky for me I had already preordered and am saved this wrenching decision. :-)

Hey, I'm a Canuck. You know if you can rig the same affiliate link up for amazon.ca? (Tiger is not yet listed there.)
A.

Woa.
Guys, I appreciate the sentiment -- and I'm not going to delete posts based on someone's opinion -- but if you could do me a personal favor and kill the comparison stuff it'd make my day.
Little good can come of it, it's just not what I try to have the site be about, and I'm about to crash and would prefer to not be having to worry about a brewing flame war in the comments while resting my head on the keyboard. Consider it a personal favor all around.
In regards to the AU, UK, CA, and other Amazons... I'll keep a look out, but I believe it's USA only at the moment. :(

Sorry dude. I guess I started the whole thing. It was meant as a harmless joke. I just meant to poke fun at the way all the Mac sites are asking us to support them when we buy Tiger.
Actually, I can't support people through Amazon affiliate programs, because I'm in Australia as well.

I'd do it if Amazon didn't treat overseas customers like secondclass netcitizens. *pout*
Gotta agree on the Daring Fireball thing. I love my DF t-shirt, but if Gruber and Drunken were both on fire and I had a bucket of water... wait, this is sounding painful to all involved, I'll stop.

I'd love to batman, but no such offer in gool ol' Germany... sorry (I guess for the both of us, huh? :-)
But I'm betting it's well worth the full price.
