Battlestar Galactica fanboy
I started a comment on Brent's Battlestar Galactica post, then realized it's a good excuse to pimp the show in general. It's one of the few shows this year, if not the only new show, that I really don't want to miss an episode of in any way.
I remember being really wigged out hearing that it'd be 'reimagined', and then quickly falling in love. Even if you didn't like the first show, this one was just damn good. It's spiked my hope that Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy will turn out in the same way.
I heard from people overseas that towards the end of the season it was supposed to start to suck, but so far I've seen none of it. It just keeps drawing me in more.
As a tidbit, I've been enjoying the Battlestar Galactica blog, most notably its 'Why 33 minutes?' post, and really wish people behind some of the other shows I liked would consider doing the same...

Out here in New Zealand they've only just played the mini series from 2003. The first series is starting next week though, so that's good.
I do agree that they've managed to pull off the new series. It's not just a remake, but it's kept enough of the original 'feel' to not put me off watching it.
The blog looks interesting, something else for NewNewsWire ;)

Heh, I just got into Battlestar Galactica a few weeks ago. I went and downloaded the miniseries, and then the entire first season via BitTorrent. It's pretty good, although if what they did in episode 13 is indeed what I think they did, then season 2 is going to be somewhat different, and maybe not in a good way.
However, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis are still my favorite shows by far.

SG1 and Atlantis have my vote too. I enjoyed watching reruns of Battlestar Galactica a few years ago so I'll have to check out the mini-series and see what all the fuss it's all about.

Maxine,
That's sad to hear. I am not living that long in New Zealand and am absolutely amazed at the absence of SF on television...

Did you find a RSS Feed for that Battlestar Galactica blog? (somebody mentioned it being another one for NNW) I can't find one.
P.S. I prefer the Stargates as well. Galactica is so dark and dreary that I need to take it in small doses. I really thought Enterprise had gotten good in the last season--much, much better than Voyager--and I'm very sad to see it go. There's a petition to get it picked up by Sci-Fi, but that seems unlikely. :(

I'm in the middle of watching the series, and it has got to be the best TV sci-fi I've seen in years (caveat emptor: i never watched farscape). viva los cylons! I pimped the show as an advisory action plan. (link)
I dig your site man, you have some excellent write-ups.

Sorry to hear someone never watched Farscape (I saw the 'mini movie' that came out awhile ago -- don't judge it by that!), but as far as the Battlestar blog, yes there is a feed, which is how I keep up with it. :)

Mutant X was better than Voyager... so was my last bowel movement. :p

yeah... i'm enjoying this too... possibly too much. as someone who has watched practically no tv for the past 15 or so years it's odd to realize that i'm actually looking forward to friday nights simply because i know a new episode is on...
i think i agree about star buck being a big draw but it is more than that.
oh, and i've become addicted to x-files reruns... 11 pm-5 am on tnt.

I got a bad cold a few weeks ago, and decided to prop up the PowerBook and Cinema Display on my coffee table. Grabbed the mini-series plus the whole season off of Bit Torrent (insert universial distributed TiVo comment here) and proceeded to watch the whole 17 hours in 2 days.
Best Cold Ever!
When I started watching it, I actually thought that the format was going to be 1 or 2 jumps per episode - sort of a real time 24 thing. It's not - but it does not get worse toward the end. The whole season is very good and refreshingly dark. However, they never really re-capture the intensity of the 1st episode, with all of the jumping and exhaustion. None of Neelix's crazy chef hijinks in this scifi show though!
Grab it now and wait till that flu hits.

I've absolutely LOVED this series so far. And I've turned a couple of my friends on to it. Kudos to Ron Moore and Co. for making an engaging and not at all cheesy sci-fi show!

Does anyone know where there's an up-to-date blog on BSG where the show gets some serious discussion? Also why are all these stinking blogs stop at February? Shee-it, it's April already.

BSG is simply the best shown in years. I like the Stargate's but you have to admit some of that is just true, put there fer a reason cheese.
BSG has none of that. Season 2 has turned up the heat, the intensity and intrigue have doubled. Baltar and his cylon 'hoes, The Pegasus, the blackmarket.
To anyone who reads this.... if you have not seen it... go Download all of the BSG episodes. Dark or not, you will no be dissapointed.
Season 2, episode 15 is Feb 3/05...
P.S. Yeah I know I sound like a fanboi...TFB... all I gotta say is.... Grace Park! Katie Sackhoff! Tricia Helfer! Kandyse Mclure!

It's all about StarBuck... I spent hours trying to find "struggling actress soft core porn footage" of her. She changes the whole dimension of the show. I hope the stuff with the crazy fucked in the head doctor pans out... it keeps staying good, but is starting to wear a little bit... can't wait till they redo Buck Rogers... but that is kind of like Farscape...
