Climax and lull
Weird things happen when you absentee vote ahead of the normal schedule. Namely, everyone I know is running to the polls, and this is a big time for them, but my climax came early (no jokes from the peanut gallery). When I'm on the train for a few hours, I'm in a form of info-embargo; I'm not one of those people grabbing emails and RSS feeds at 28.8 baud from a cell phone.
Now that I'm off the train, I did a quick feed ping of my political sites to try to pull in some nugget that would allow me to emotionally participate, but well, there's not a whole lot there to chew on. This was interesting, but I have zero idea of what to make of it. That's one hell of a 3-month bender.
So I'm forced to wallflower this pre-results period, which is kind of annoying, but there are other things that should get done and I have a feeling it's going to be a long night as the results roll in anyways.
And no, I don't care who you voted for. But I do hope you took the time to vote, and hope your decision wasn't based upon Bush "bringing back the draft in 2005" or whether or not Kerry speaks fluent francais.
At the end, I hope you were able to vote at all, and I'd hope that tomorrow you remember the political beliefs of the person sitting next to you aren't nearly as important as whether or not you'd enjoy having a drink with them if you didn't know their political beliefs.

Your link to Yushchenko is timely, Ukraine is making history with elections. Both contenders said they won. Both agreed to a run-off. Now Yushchenko has come down with a 'mystery illness' that looks like 40 years of alcoholism. It is very strange, this happened over a 3 month period.
His aides just say illness, his supporters claim his rivals have poisoned him somehow. Putin of Russia supports the rival candidate. All more interesting is Arafat recently becoming ill with a mystery sickness...

I can't tell if you are alluding to the mistruths on both sides, or just bashing Kerry twice...

Knowing Michael personally, and listened to his rant on this, I am sure it is #1.

Here, the lines were over two hours in some cases. I was glad to have sent in an absentee ballot myself. In the end, it didn't matter anyway (I'm in Colorado, and our state went for Bush, so you can guess who I voted for)!
